Located in Delft, the Netherlands, The department of Radiation, Radionuclides & Reactors (RRR) and the Reactor Institute Delft (RID) are part of the Delft University of Technology. The principal scientific activities are materials research involving neutrons, electrons and positrons, as well as other nuclear techniques, physical aspects of nuclear reactors, research in radiation physics, radiation technology, radiochemistry, radiation chemistry and environmental research. The Institute has unique expertise in the area of nuclear reactors and associated scientific research. It is the Dutch national centre for training and research in this field.
The Institute’s facilities comprise a 2 MW swimming-pool nuclear reactor, a 3 MV pulsed electron-accelerator, positron beams and specific facilities for research with radionuclides and nuclear radiation.
Teaching activities include courses for MSc and PhD students, as well as a broad range of courses in health physics and in applications of nuclear techniques.
